Flowers are beginning to bloom and you can feel it in the air; spring is here!
Spring is often associated with cleaning. It’s considered the perfect time to get rid of all the dirt and clutter in homes to prepare it for the spring and summer months.
Spring is also one of the busiest seasons for us at Budget Maids. Homeowners want their homes cleaned but busy schedules prevent that from happening. If you don’t have time to book a service as yet, here are some tips to help you with spring cleaning:
Clean the tools you’re going to use
This may seem like a counterproductive measure that takes up too much time, but if you want your home to be truly clean, you need to clean all your tools first. Strike the broom against a wall outside your house to release all the dust and debris, clean out the vacuum, and don’t forget the sponges and washcloths.
The stove top requires attention
Stovetops can get really dirty with all the food and oil particles that splash over while cooking and can often lead to buildup of stubborn grime. Even if you clean it up immediately, sticky residue is still left behind. Make sure you’re using backing soda to remove stubborn grease from your stove top. Surface cleaners will help disinfect it as well.
Refresh the sink disposal
The sink disposal deals with solids and liquids and over time it tends to develop an odor. This odor can make it difficult to spend time in the kitchen too. To clean the sink disposal, fill it up with ice while it is still running. The ice helps clean the blades. As for the smell, throw in orange and lemon peels. Their fresh scent will mask the odor.
Don’t forget the blinds
The most overlooked part of a home would have to be the blinds. Unlike curtains they aren’t taken down and washed, which is why homeowners tend to forget about them. The dust build up in the blinds can result in allergies and breathing difficulties indoors.
Cleaning the blinds is super simple. All you have to do is run a microfiber cloth across it to get rid of the dust. You could disinfect it if you like too.
Steam the microwave
While microwave ovens are ideal for reheating food and saving substantial your valuable time, they are ridden with germs. Germs from leftover food, in addition to skin contact makes microwave ovens one of the dirtiest appliances in your home.
When spring cleaning, make sure you do the microwave too. Fill a mug of water and microwave it for 2 to 3 minutes. This creates steam which softens the food residue, making it easy to wipe down.
