Here at Budget Maids, we hope you and your family are safe and well and managing to say sane during these crazy times.
Our business carries on as we believe our best course of action is to continue to help you sanitize your home during the current COVID-19 crisis. Health and safety is our number one priority and you can read more about what we at Budget Maids are doing to ensure you and our staff are protected.
In the meantime, we would like to share our tips on what you can do to minimize risks through the effective sanitation of your home.
Everyone should sanitize
While living in lockdown minimizes the risk of the virus living on a surface of your home, it makes sense to sanitize anyway. This applies especially if people need to leave your home to pick up food or medical supplies.
Clean the surfaces you touch most often regularly
While the exact science on the virus is still unclear, a US study found that the virus can survive for up to three days on stainless steel and plastic, and one day on cardboard.
Surfaces that are often touched multiple times in houses include desks, phones, door handles, shared bathrooms, kitchens, light switches, the car steering wheel, remote controls and keyboards.
If possible, use disinfectant cleaners or wipes, and clean at least once a day if not more often.
Wash floors properly
Lino, laminate flooring and other surfaces should be properly cleansed. If you don’t do this already, instigate a policy where people remove shoes at the front door when coming in from outside.
Use the proper products
While recent months have seen shortages of certain cleaning products, remember that antibacterial wipes and cleaners are not the same as anti-viral products as they deal with different germs. However, antibacterial products often contain disinfectants too.
The packaging should make it clear if it kills bacteria and viruses. Diluted bleach and cleaners with 70 percent alcohol can be effective. Make sure children and pets are kept away from surface areas until they dry.
Other measures include increased hand washing, and doing more laundry so sheets, bedding, clothing, cleaning cloths and dish towels etc., are all kept as clean as possible.
Stay safe everyone!
