Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and if you already have your flowers and chocolate orders on standby, good for you! But after the tough year that was 2020, we think that flowers and chocolates aren’t enough. With all the time people have spent, and continue to spend, at home during this pandemic, it’s time to step up your Valentine’s Day game.
Since a candlelit dinner in a packed restaurant with other couples in close proximity is a bad idea right now, we’ve got some cleaning tips to help you celebrate V-Day at home:
1. The Kitchen
If your plans for the evening involve cooking a meal with your partner (and to be honest, they should), neither of you should be doing that in a dirty kitchen.
First, deal with any dirty dishes in the sink or dishwasher. Proceed to clean the stovetop, then wipe down the countertops, cabinet doors, and drawers. Lastly, take out the trash.
2. The Bedroom
Start by collecting and putting away any dirty clothes. If you have laundry you haven’t folded and put in the closet yet, which happens to the best of us, get on that. Change the sheets and get rid of all the clutter you find. When you’re done cleaning the bedroom, lighting a scented candle or two is a nice, romantic touch.
3. The Bathroom
We know cleaning your bathroom isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a romantic evening. However, like every other room in your home, it requires cleaning and upkeep too.
Start by scrubbing your toilet, then wipe down the shower or bathtub. Clean the sink, counters and floors, then finish by emptying the trash can. As with the bedroom, a small scented candle is a good idea for the bathroom.
4. Living Room
Start cleaning your living room by decluttering it. Use the vacuum cleaner to clean any rugs or carpets, then clean the couches and curtains using its smaller attachments. Place a bouquet of fresh flowers on the table, put on some romantic music, and you’re done.
Remember that a clean home is a comfortable home. If you can’t find the time to clean your home and get it ready for Valentine’s Day, a professional cleaning service can do the job for you.
