Ready for the spring clean? We often use this time of year to clear out the old ready for the new, and 2021 marks the perfect time to do so.
Here at Budget Maids, we recommend pulling together a list of the chores you’ll need to undertake for a proper spring clean. It should be a thorough one, encompassing the interior and exterior of your home, so here we’ll concentrate on the outdoor jobs that need doing.
Clean the yard
As the weather warms up, your yard will need some care and attention to prep it for the spring. Get rid of the debris and anything you have thrown out. Snow and ice might have hidden dog poo, so now’s the time to clear that up. Depending on where you are, it might be time for the first grass cut of the season.
Check your garden furniture too. Does anything need repaired? Or what about polish and water-proofing?
Inspect the roof and gutters
Overpacked gutters will lead to leaks and other problems, so arrange for them to be cleaned and check if any repairs are needed. Your slates may also need attention. If the winter led to a lot of ice and snow, consider insulating your roof in time for when the cold season hits next year.
Clean the decks
As spring starts, the sunshine may pick out the damage winter has done to the decks. Sweep it well to get rid of the debris and then clean with warm water and detergent. This will prep the area for staining, should you wish to refresh the decking. While it might be tempting to power hose the deck for ease, it is not recommended because that flow of water can damage it.
Clean the garage
Many people use their garages as dumping grounds for anything and everything. Make 2021 the year you get rid of everything you do not need. Clear the garage of everything and sweep it out. When you return all the items you really need and use, try to place them so that they are close to hand and easy to find. Holiday décor and a snow blower can be tidied away (hopefully!) until the autumn.
