Cleaning Service Falls Church: Spring Clean Bedrooms

cleaning service Falls ChurchHere at Cleaning Service Falls Church, Spring makes us joyful. The weather brightens, we can all get out and about again, and we start to feel more energetic.

Cleaning services Falls Church doesn’t need too much of an excuse to want to do some spring cleaning, but let’s have a look at one room in particular: the bedroom. Why not start small with your spring cleaning, one room at a time? Going to bed at night in a fresh, clean room will help you relax, and getting that room tip-top is hugely satisfying.

Windows

Start with the windows. Get outside and clean them externally, as well as internally. It’s best to do this on a cloudy day, so the sun doesn’t dry out the cleaning agent before you’ve wiped it off. Vinegar and newspapers is an old housewife’s tale for sparkling clean windows, and it works.

Closet, Wardrobe and Drawers

Okay, if ever there was an incentive to de-clutter it is Spring. Why not use your bedroom spring clean as an opportunity to get rid of clothing, shoes and accessories you don’t want? Sort them into charity and chuck piles, the latter for anything that actually is falling apart. Or why not try a Swish party? That’s where you invite your girlfriends to the house, everyone brings their unwanted clothes and you swap. It’s like shopping, but guilt-free.

Clean Curtains and Blinds

You can use your vacuum cleaner to clean the curtains, using the nozzle attachment. You might also be able to put curtains in the washing machine. Buy specialist dusters for blinds as they can be fiddly.

Professionally Clean Carpets and Rugs

Professional carpet cleaning services just like the ones we provide at Cleaning Service Falls Church will make your carpets look brand new. They also help if you have pets as they can get rid of the build-up of fur and the nasty little critters that like to pounce on your pooch and hide in your home…

Dust and Polish

Dust builds up quickly in bedrooms, thanks to skin cells, hairs and make-up (if you do your face in your boudoir). Why not do the dusting and polishing job properly, by removing everything from wooden surfaces? It’ll be worth it.

Here at Budget Maids, we offer cleaning service Falls Church, a maid service in Vienna or cleaning services in Falls Church and surrounds, cleaning services in Olney and Oakton and more. Why not give us a call today and let us share our love of cleaning with you?

The Top 10 Rules of Spring Cleaning

house cleaning OaktonThe House Cleaning Oakton experts love spring cleaning! It’s a chance to make a real difference to homes. A tidy home is a welcoming one. There is also plenty of research to show that de-cluttering makes us feel better too. Mess drags you down.

If you’re planning your own spring clean, here are some rules to follow:

Assemble your supplies and equipment. You might have run out of furniture polish, or you could need a duster specifically for blinds. If you have everything to hand at the start, your enthusiasm won’t be dampened by having to go out and buy something.

Get the big jobs finished first. Clean the oven and fridge. These are jobs most people don’t like so once they are out of the way, the rest of the housework is a breeze.

Declutter next. That messy spare room that you’ve meant to sort for ages? Get it done now. De-cluttering is often easier if you start small. Allocate ten minutes at a time and don’t do anymore after that.

Clean those windows. You want the sun to stream in, after all. Vinegar solutions make great, natural cleansing agents for windows.

Enlist help. Why not make it a chance to catch up with neighbors? A spring clean, followed by lunch to say thanks?

Invest in new soft furnishings. Why not reward yourself with new bed linen, cushions or throws? It’s an effortless way to change the look of a room.

Clean the carpet. In the winter months, we spend longer inside, and we tramp all kinds of dirt into carpets and rugs. House cleaning Oakton at Budget-Maids offers professional carpet cleaning services.

Choose green cleaning products. You have plenty to choose from these days. They are good for the environment and good for your home.

Think of spring cleaning as exercise. If you put plenty of effort into it – stretching up to clean windows, mopping floors vigorously and going up and down stairs often as you tidy things away – you’ll get a great work-out. Who needs the gym?

Sort out repairs. Leaky faucets, creaky hinges, holes in the plaster – take this opportunity to fix them.

Spring Cleaning Tips – House Cleaning Oakton Experts

house cleaning OaktonWill you be spring cleaning this year – if so, Budget Maids is on hand to provide spring cleaning tips from house cleaning Oakton experts.

A spring clean is different from a usual clean. It tends to be more thorough and can often involve jobs that have not been done for a while. With changes in the temperature and amount of sunlight, the streaming sun can often expose neglect or the extent of dust and dirt in our homes.

Wash your door mats. They wil have built up a lot of dirt from winter – rain and mud etc, so shake them down, batter them against a wall and place in the washing machine if possible.

Carpets and rug cleaning. These fabrics will have absorbed a whole lot of dirt, body oil, germs, pet hairs and more over the last few months so consider a deep cleaning to get them ready for another year of wear with shampooing or steam cleaning. (The house cleaning Oakton experts at Budget Maids can help you with professional carpet cleaning.)

Test the fabric’s compatibility first by cleaning a small, unobtrusive area with the product or cleaning implement to ensure it won’t discolor the fabric. Open the windows once you have finished to speed up the drying process.

Dust before vacuuming or cleaning floors. Use feather or lambswool dusters, if at all possible and invest in some extendable ones that will reach above window and door casings and into the corners of rooms.

Get rid of some clutter at the same time. If you have old tee shirts or other clothing, rip them up to use as household rags. Natural fibers work best and you can use these dampened for any dusting jobs that require a bit of cleaning first.

Use mops with a squeeze mechanism as these are great for vinyl, linoleum or ceramic tile floors and a decent-size heavy-duty pail.

Wash your walls – over the winter enough dust and soot will have clung to these surfaces to merit a clean. A sponge, a bucket and some diluted soapy solution should do the job for most wall surfaces (again, test out a small area to check compatibility) and consider using a sponge mop to reach the higher surfaces. If you decide to do all of your walls, this method of cleaning is also a great work-out!

Spring Cleaning (Cont): five essential tips

By now, you’ll hopefully have a rough plan in place for the big Spring Clean (remember we talked about planning and scheduling two blog posts ago?).So, without further ado, here’s our five essential tips to get you through this year’s dusting and vacuuming extravaganza.

SPRING-CLEANING

  • Everybody and everything out. The last thing you need when you come to start that big Spring Clean, is to have the dog, cat and all the kids around getting under your feet. Make alternative arrangements to get rid of them out the house. The same counts for furniture.  Move all your small pieces out or into one corner as you go through each room. That way there’ll be no hard-to-reach spots or dusty corners unscathed.
  • Seasonal change. Spring is a good time to swop around seasonal bedding, blankets and curtains etc. Wash linen, blankets and dry-clean cushions, quilts and even loose carpets then swop with summer versions and store them all away. Can you be bothered with the blinds? You should since these get really dusty and really should be tackled early on.
  • Top-down dusting. Talking of dusting, if you want to avoid even more dust than what’s already there then dust top-down. In other words, start with the top shelves or highest points of the furniture and dusting in a downwards fashion towards the flooring.  Divide your room into sections to avoid dusting the same area twice. Dusting downwards means you should be able to get all the cobwebs in those far corners first!
  • Fluff up the Furniture . Deep-cleaning furniture calls for an actual carpet-cleaner. Try and tackle the carpets and furniture in one go and do it on a day when the weather’s good so that you can dry things outdoors. Watch what you’re doing in terms of chemicals too as you don’t want to damage the fabrics of your furniture.

The thought of Spring Cleaning can seem overwhelming. But once it’s done your home will be sparkling and you’ll be ready to embrace spring with open arms. If you just don’t have the time or energy to go ahead though why not call on us here at Budget Maids to do the job for you?  We offer home cleaning in Potomac, cleaning services throughout Columbia and maid services in Falls Church and surrounds. Time to start planning the Big Spring Clean

This year, do yourself a favor and start planning your home’s Spring clean well ahead of time.  Sure, we don’t always have time for a thorough Spring clean every year but really, when was the last time you ditched those old, broken, unused or unwanted items in your home and garage?  Or even cleaned up the yard in one big cleaning marathon?

spring-clean

Often our homes seem to be ruled by clutter and busy schedules don’t give us any time to tackle it. Here’s what we would do in your position:

Set aside time

Proper and deep Spring cleaning takes time.  In fact we could easily be talking a few weeks.  But don’t despair, the after-clean high and a year of organized household items and shining carpets will be well worth your time and efforts.

Look at your calendar and mark down at least three weeks for your big Spring clean project.  Do this well in advance so that you know not to overbook yourself or the rest of the family during this period.

Write down a schedule

This may sound a bit OTT, but bear with us for a second: make a list of the deep cleaning tasks you wish to do this Spring.  For every household, this list is different and it helps to identify your needs and priorities.

De-clutter, then clean

Always start your Spring clean project with a thorough de-clutter of your home.  Kids grow up. Fast. There are dozens of charity organizations that will appreciate their discarded toys and games so round up the kids for some de-cluttering and organizing.  Sort all belongings into three groups: to keep, to store and to give or throw away.  This way your home could probably be rid of at least a third of its current clutter. Now isn’t that a nice thought?  And with the clutter out of the way, getting down to the actual cleaning will be much easier.

Spring cleaning is all about de-cluttering and making space for a new season in your life.  But Spring cleaning your home is a mammoth task, so why not call on Budget Maids for efficient and expert help? We offer maid services in Vienna, home cleaning in Falls Church and house cleaning services in Arlington and throughout Maryland and VA.  For further tips and advice, stay tuned for Part 2 of our Big Spring Clean next week.

Let Budget-Maids get you set for spring cleaning season

With the changeover from February to March on Friday, the idea of spring cleaning your home has probably already begun to formulate in that head of yours.

Spring-cleaningTESCO

This is the time of year when our team’s house cleaning in Columbia, Arlington, Potomac and other local areas, gets busier than ever. And it’s probably the season your house gets its biggest clean all year.

That, of course, makes spring a prime time for de-cluttering. But with more and more of us leading such busy lives these days it’s not always possible to do a really thorough spring clean.

And that’s why, here at Budget-Maids, we often find we’re called out to either start or finish a spring clean or, as is increasingly the case, to do the entire clean from top to bottom while everyone in the home is out at work. And that suits us just fine.

But anyhow, if you’re one of those customers who’d like to at least prepare for us coming in to do a thorough spring clean of your home from top to bottom then here’s a few tips on getting started:

  • Attics and Garages – Ok, we bet these are the places where you’re going to have the most clutter. Broken sports equipment, old toys, wedding presents you hated – they’re all there and really, it’s time to get rid of. We don’t necessarily mean bin them, you could take some of the items down to a charity shop or hand in to a homeless shelter. You know that old saying – one man’s junk is another man’s treasure? We bet donating would make you feel good too!
  • Home office – Yep, this is the second type of place in the home where mess tends to accumulate. That’s because it’s easy – and understandable – to store away old files, paper and magazines you think you may need again one day. Even though you haven’t looked at them for at least five years! Maybe it’s time to admit that past client really is going to remain in the past and use the space his file is taking up for a new client. Throwing out dead wood can also clear your head and give you added vigor.
  • Clothes and footwear – Most of us could do with throwing out old garments that we haven’t worn for months and in some cases, years. Fashion stylists recommend getting rid of an item you haven’t worn within the last 12 months. Maybe you prefer to hang on to things a bit longer? We reckon our cut off point is three years. If we realize that was the last time we wore something it’s headed for the charity shop next day – unless it’s our big cuddly woolly sweater that we’ve been dragging out every winter for the past decade!

Anyways, if you can clear out the clutter from the above, then here at Budget-Maids we’ll come in and do the rest – cleaning all that extra space you’ve just found in your home which is going to give not just your house, but your whole family a new lease of life. For all year round help we also provide a maid service in Arlington, Potomac and other local areas.
