Let Budget-Maids get you set for spring cleaning season

by Budget Maids - February 26, 2013

With the changeover from February to March on Friday, the idea of spring cleaning your home has probably already begun to formulate in that head of yours.

Spring-cleaningTESCO

This is the time of year when our team’s house cleaning in Columbia, Arlington, Potomac and other local areas, gets busier than ever. And it’s probably the season your house gets its biggest clean all year.

That, of course, makes spring a prime time for de-cluttering. But with more and more of us leading such busy lives these days it’s not always possible to do a really thorough spring clean.

And that’s why, here at Budget-Maids, we often find we’re called out to either start or finish a spring clean or, as is increasingly the case, to do the entire clean from top to bottom while everyone in the home is out at work. And that suits us just fine.

But anyhow, if you’re one of those customers who’d like to at least prepare for us coming in to do a thorough spring clean of your home from top to bottom then here’s a few tips on getting started:

  • Attics and Garages – Ok, we bet these are the places where you’re going to have the most clutter. Broken sports equipment, old toys, wedding presents you hated – they’re all there and really, it’s time to get rid of. We don’t necessarily mean bin them, you could take some of the items down to a charity shop or hand in to a homeless shelter. You know that old saying – one man’s junk is another man’s treasure? We bet donating would make you feel good too!
  • Home office – Yep, this is the second type of place in the home where mess tends to accumulate. That’s because it’s easy – and understandable – to store away old files, paper and magazines you think you may need again one day. Even though you haven’t looked at them for at least five years! Maybe it’s time to admit that past client really is going to remain in the past and use the space his file is taking up for a new client. Throwing out dead wood can also clear your head and give you added vigor.
  • Clothes and footwear – Most of us could do with throwing out old garments that we haven’t worn for months and in some cases, years. Fashion stylists recommend getting rid of an item you haven’t worn within the last 12 months. Maybe you prefer to hang on to things a bit longer? We reckon our cut off point is three years. If we realize that was the last time we wore something it’s headed for the charity shop next day – unless it’s our big cuddly woolly sweater that we’ve been dragging out every winter for the past decade!

Anyways, if you can clear out the clutter from the above, then here at Budget-Maids we’ll come in and do the rest – cleaning all that extra space you’ve just found in your home which is going to give not just your house, but your whole family a new lease of life. For all year round help we also provide a maid service in Arlington, Potomac and other local areas.
