Maid Services Olney’s Laundry Tips

Maid Service OlneyMaid Service Olney knows that for most of us laundry is a recurring job. Depending on the size of your family you might be using the washing machine twice a week, or perhaps every day.

Maid Service Olney has laundry tips to ensure your clothes emerge as super-clean as they can be.

Preparing your dirty laundry. To ensure thorough cleaning and protect the drum of your washing machine, preparation is essential. Secure Velcro, remove pins and brooches, unfurl socks and unroll cuffs. You should also tie strings and sashes, and put lingerie into mesh bags.

IMPORTANT TIP – check pockets for tissues. If you leave tissue paper in the washing machine, it will disintegrate, coating everything in miniscule pieces that are almost impossible to pick off.

Go easy on the fabric softener, especially when you are washing towels. Fabric softener affects the absorbency of towels. For every four washes of a towel, make one of them softener-free to preserve.

Use the exact amount of washing powder or liquid. It’s tempting to throw a lot in there, but modern formulations are super strong. Too much powder or liquid will clog up the internal workings of your machine and lead to a build-up of bacteria.

Wash whites separately, as this will keep them whiter. They should also be washed at a warmer temperature than colours. You can make your own whitening formulation using half a cup of white or cider vinegar mixed in with a gallon of water during the washing machine cycle. Hang your whites out to dry in sunshine, if possible, as this acts as a natural bleach. It’s the environmentally-friendly approach too, says Maid Service Olney.

Ditch the dry cleaning. Something labelled dry cleaning doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be cleaned that way, especially if it’s made from natural fibers such as wool, silk and linen. Do hand wash them, though, in a mild solution of warm water and a gentle detergent. Rinse until the water runs clear and gently squeeze out the excess water. You should reshape items flat on a towel and leave to dry flat too.

Do regular service washes. A service wash is where you run the machine at a high temperature with nothing in it. This helps maintain your washing machine and should be done about every 40 washes. Most modern machines will have a setting especially for this. Maintain the machine by also wiping it out after every wash, removing anything trapped in the rubber seal and leaving the door open if possible.

Cleaning Service Vienna: Banish the January Blues with Cleaning

Cleaning Service ViennaHave you got the January blues, asks Cleaning Service Vienna? It’s a funny month. All the lovely activities such as partying, time off work and catching up with family and friends are finished.

Still, there are some things you can do to make this month better. Here are our suggestions.

CLEANING SERVICE VIENNA TIPS

Get rid of those unwanted presents. Yes, we’re always grateful for gifts but many people receive things they don’t want. If you don’t love the gift, it clutters up your home. Donate it to charity or a friend who might appreciate it.

De-clutter in general. Do you want to walk into a home that feels calm and relaxing? The less clutter that lies around, the more likely this is to happen. How can you make de-cluttering easy? Cleaning Service Vienna explains:

  • For wardrobes. Anything you haven’t worn in a year should be thrown out. Ditto for anything that does not fit, or doesn’t suit you.
  • Books. Is there a room where you can store them all? We’re loath to throw books away, but keep them all in one place and they’ll be much tidier. The same goes for DVDs.
  • Drawers. We’re all guilty to dumping stuff in drawers to hide it away. Again, ask yourself if you’ve used these items in the last 12 months and chuck anything you haven’t.
  • Kitchens. Get rid of any gadgets that aren’t used regularly, i.e. once a week or every two weeks.
  • Bribe a friend to do it. Your friend won’t have any attachment to your things. They’ll find it easier to throw away the rubbish. Repay your friend by doing the same back.

TRASH CANS

Clean your trash cans. Your trash cans have worked hard this Christmas. Extra food waste and packing will have taken their toll. Your bins may stink to high heaven. Ideally, you should throw your trash out daily. Create a home-made trash can cleanser using a 50/50 mix of cider or distilled white vinegar and water spray. You can add some drops of essential oils too, such as lemon or peppermint. When you take the trash out, spray the bin and give it a quick wipe.

Invite people around to your lovely, clean home. Now that you’ve de-cluttered and filled your home with lovely aromas, people should see it. It’s tempting to hide away in January, but socializing keeps us health and cheerful. Throw a mid-month party. It will make you very popular!

Happy New Year from all of us at Budget Maids!

Christmas Cleaning – maid service Rockville

maid service RockvilleAre you going to be throwing your home open for Christmas, maid service Rockville asks. Guests bring their own set of demands, and one of them is a clean house!

Here are the maid service Rockville tips for tidying:

Prepare the guest bedrooms. The beds should have clean sheets, and the room should be polished and vacuumed, so it smells fresh and clean. It’s a nice touch to put some flowers in there, and leave a pile of just washed towels on the bed.

The thoughtful host leaves out a selection of books or magazines to suit the guest’s reading tastes. You’ll also want to give them some space in a wardrobe or chest of drawers where they can store their clothes if your guests are going to be with you for a few days.

Clean your fridge and oven. The oven will be handling a lot of food over Christmas, and food that makes a mess. Turkey and roast potatoes, in particular, can be messy in the oven. Clean it in advance so it will not be as unpleasant to do afterwards.

Your fridge and freezer will be storing a lot of food too. Clear your fridge out of everything that’s out of date, says maid service Rockville, and make sure there is plenty of room for all the stuff that is going to be stored in there.

The same applies to the freezer. You’ll be using this for ice-cubes, frozen desserts and left-overs, and perhaps your turkey. Freezers work best when they are full, but you still need a little space for the air to circulate.

Wash your glasses. Everyone will want to raise a glass of Christmas cheer, and they should do this in a sparkling clean glass. Wash your glasses in very hot water and a little detergent, rinse thoroughly and dry to a gleam with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Give the bathroom a super-spritz. Everyone needs to use the bathroom, don’t they? Therefore, your bathroom needs a thorough clean and tidy before guests arrive. Ensure the plugholes are cleaned too, with a solution of vinegar and water to clear out debris and leave fresh-smelling.

Here at Budget Maids we provide cleaning services in Oakton, a maid service Rockville or cleaning services in Potomac and surrounds, and more. Why not give us a call today and let us help you ensure your house is immaculate, ready for those Christmas guests?

All I Want for Christmas is Cleaning!

Maid Service PotomacMaid Service Potomac asks – what is your most fervent Christmas wish? A clean house that you walk into with a feeling of relief and calm?

There are lots of reasons why hiring a Maid Service Potomac will bring many benefits to your life. Let’s take a look at some of them…

Not having to do your own cleaning will save you precious time.

Did you know that in the US, your average worker puts in more than 1,770 hours a year? Your job probably takes up a lot of your time. Having to return home and then work your way through tons of chores isn’t pleasant. Wouldn’t you rather your free time was spent with your kids, in the gym, visiting family and friends or relaxing in front of the latest box set on Netflix?

Professional cleaning will do the job better than you can.

No offence darlings, but we have years of cleaning experience behind us, and we use professional equipment and industrial, environmentally friendly cleaners to tidy up your home. We will clean it from top to bottom, and you will see a clear difference after our team has been in.

Maid Service Potomac will do the jobs you hate.

Ask anyone and there are lots of cleaning jobs that come up as the least favorite things to do. Cleaning the oven is one of them and many people baulk at cleaning toilets too. What about skirting boards? Do you regularly get down on your hands and knees to clean these?

Professional cleaning can cover carpets.

Carpets quickly build up dirt and bacteria – sometimes even mold and/or infestations of insects, especially if you have pets. Our revolutionary dry-cleaning system can freshen up your carpets and remove odors. It’s minimally disruptive too, because there is less drying time than steam cleaning and you don’t need hoses or a water source. You don’t need to worry about water damage to wooden furniture and there’ll be no reappearance of water marks or strains, such as you get with traditional shampooing.

There you have it – your perfect Christmas gift to yourself or a friend! Professional cleaning services that will save you time, and do all the jobs you hate.

Here at Budget Maids we provide cleaning services in Olney, a Maid Service Potomac or cleaning services in Columbia and surrounds (i.e. VA and most of Maryland). Why not give us a call today and let us help you with all that cleaning you need to do before Christmas?

Tips for Post-Thanksgiving – cleaning services Falls Church

cleaning services Falls ChurchHere at cleaning services Falls Church, we hope all our readers and regular customers enjoyed Thanksgiving. But what might be a bit of an issue now is the cleaning up.

Yes, Thanksgiving often comes with a hefty side order of mess. Never fear. The experts at cleaning services Falls Church can help. We’ve got some tricks and tips for even the trickiest of cleaning jobs…

Burnt on food

Sweet potatoes and marshmallows are a Thanksgiving favorite, but boy are they messy! The sugar in the candy and the potatoes will weld itself onto a casserole dish and stick there fast. You can use two different methods to remove it. Fill the dish with cold water and a couple of tablespoons of either washing powder or liquid and heat slowly on the hob. This will lift the mess off.

Otherwise, you can use the same slow heating method but use vinegar instead (one part vinegar to four parts water). Another idea is to place the dish in the freezer for three hours, and this makes the burnt payers much easier to remove too.

Red wine stains

Maybe one of your guests got a bit too enthusiastic with the toasts? Red wine stains on linen and carpets can be a pest, but it’s a salvageable situation. Even if you don’t do it immediately, there are tricks to remove old stains.

You’ll need a non-bleach dish detergent, 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, a towel, cloth or paper towels, cream of tartar and water. Working from the outside of the stain, blot with one part detergent and two parts hydrogen peroxide. If this doesn’t work, you can make a paste from the cream of tartar and water. Allow it to set for a few minutes, then rinse with cold water and blot with a clean, dampened towel. Always remember to blot, rather than scrub, as scrubbing will spread the stain further.

Removing food smells

It’s lovely to walk into a house that smells of Thanksgiving food – roasting turkey, home-made gravy, vegetables and pumpkin pie all smell delicious. Three days later, not so much. And if you burned anything, it’ll be even worse. Open the windows for a few hours, and clean the surface areas as food smells linger on carpets and even walls. Put a pan of water with half a lemon it in to boil for 20 minutes, as this will work too.

Here at Budget Maids, we provide cleaning services in Arlington, a maid service in Vienna or cleaning services Falls Church and surrounds, cleaning services in Olney and Oakton and more. Why not give us a call today and let us help you get your house back to normal post-Thanksgiving?

Maid Service Reston: Household Chores We Hate!

Maid Service Reston

Toilet cleaning. Most people hate it.

Everyone has their pet peeve, Maid Service Reston writes, the one household chore they despise, and the one they bribe other members of their household to do.

This can vary wildly. There are some people, for example who love ironing. They use it as an excuse to catch up on their favorite TV program. It’s a reward, right? I’ll work my way through all the ironing and in exchange, I’ll Keep up with the Kardashians at the same time. Insert your program/Box set of choice.

Others can find cleaning toilets hugely rewarding. We know. It doesn’t sound appealing to most of us. Unless you are someone who derives immense satisfaction from seeing something dirty and unhygienic transformed into gleaming white ceramic, clean smelling, and a seat every member of your household can safely sit their bottom on…

In all our years of providing Maid Service Reston, we do know there are certain jobs that do come in the top five for almost everyone. Here they are…

Cleaning the oven. The trouble is, as time goes on this job becomes harder and harder as burnt on grease builds up. When its hurts your eyes to open the door when the oven’s on, it’s well past the time you need to do it.

Emptying the garbage. Nope, no-one likes this either. And plenty of people are guilty of stuffing the trash down to get out of needing to empty the can. Another thing that doesn’t get done regularly is actually cleaning the garbage can. It handles all your rubbish. It needs it.

Cleaning the fridge. Wait, you say. That’s a thing?! We’re kidding, we know most people won’t let a refrigerator sit filthy or with spills in it. But proper cleaning of the fridge as it needs is a rarity in most households. On a weekly basis, Maid Service Reston recommends you remove all the shelves and wash in warm soapy weather, get rid of anything that’s out of date and clean up those gunky, sticky stains that always seem to happen.

Changing the beds. This one doesn’t appeal to many people as it’s an effort. First, you must strip them, then you’ve got to put duvet covers on. And that’s hard work. The pro’s tip is to turn the duvet cover inside out, stick your arms in and hold a corner in each hand, place over the duvet and tip so that the cover goes over easily.

All household chores. Ha! We added this as a joke. There are some people who genuinely love housework, but we’re willing to bet they are few and far between. Why not employ the pros? We’ll do a brilliant and budget-friendly job for you.

Here at Budget Maids we provide cleaning services in Olney, Maid Service Reston or cleaning services in Columbia and surrounds, and more. Why not give us a call today and let us do all the jobs you hate and don’t have time for?

Maid Service Vienna – Household Tips and Tricks

Now, if ever there was someone we at Maid Service Vienna Maid Service Viennalooks up to, it’s a distinguished and experienced housekeeper. We worship at their feet!

Margaret McMullin is a housekeeping tutor, ensuring people have the skills they need to clean to the best of their abilities. In an interview with the Guardian, she revealed her tips and tricks for keeping places spic and span…

It’s a nice feeling to get into a freshly-laundered bed. To make the experience even better, iron your sheets. Hospital corners will stop the sheets moving while you sleep. This YouTube tutorial shows you how to create the perfect hospital corner.

Want soft, fluffy towels? Easy when you know how… Towels harden thanks to washing powder and fabric softeners leaving behind mineral deposits that are then ‘baked-in’ as the towels dry. Wash your towels in laundry liquid, not powder, and take them out of the dryer or off the washing line before they are bone dry.

Every home should keep white vinegar at hand for cleaning jobs. It will take watermarks off shower screams and de-crust taps. Soak a cotton cloth in the vinegar to use.

If you want to check if a feather pillow needs replacing, you should balance it on your hand. If it droops too much, it is time to replace it. The best replacements are goose feather versions.

Think of cleaning as a work-out. It’s far cheaper than a gym membership, and it produces results that benefit you instantly!

Regularly clearing up clutter will make you feel much better.

One piece of advice Margaret offers that definitely chimes with us at Maid Service Vienna is that cleaning is time-consuming, so everyone in the household should be responsible for different jobs, or their own space. Babies and tiny children are off the hook, but teach your kids responsibility by getting them to tidy up their rooms or area from a young age.

Here at Budget Maids we provide cleaning services in Arlington, a Maid Service Vienna or cleaning services in Falls Church and surrounds, cleaning services in Olney and Oakton and more. Why not give us a call today and discover how beautiful a professionally cleaned house is?

How to Clean a Chandelier

Maid Service RockvilleWe know cleaning a chandelier sounds like a tip many of you will not need, writes Maid Service Rockville, but bear with me…

If you do own one, you will know how beautiful this home ornamentation truly is. It is also one gigantic pain in the b**t to clean. And if you don’t have one, but aspire to the crystal-dusted light illuminating your home at some point, you’ll find these tips useful!

Nowadays, chandeliers come in all shapes and sizes. They can be made from authentic crystal or glass—their price eye-wateringly expensive or more towards the budget end of the market. No matter, grime or grease build-up will spoil the look of your beautiful light, or damage it.

Maid Service Rockville says, ‘We don’t want that! No, no, no!’

Your crystal chandelier will need cleaning every six to nine months. If flies don’t hover underneath as soon as it is switched on, clean it NOW. (Flies like the light. If the thing is too dirty, they aren’t attracted… Swings and roundabouts, hmm?)

Switch off your power supply before you start. Sounds obvious, I know, but I’ve seen some nasty accidents happen to those who don’t. Remove the bulbs too.

Keep a torch or other light at hand. You will probably need it to clean your chandelier properly. Place an old sheet on the ground to stop dust spreading far and wide.

Keep hold of your manufacturer’s instructions. You might need to take the chandelier apart, and all those glittery little pieces can look exactly the same when they are lying on the floor. Want to be able to put them back together? Then you need the instructions! Alternatively, take a photo of your chandelier before you pull it to pieces.

Mount your ladder (which, of course, is a safe one!) and up you go, wearing soft gloves and armed with soft cloths. Use a dilute solution of washing-up liquid or white vinegar. Gently does it when it comes to the chandelier!

Apply small amounts of the cleaning product to the cloth (not the light directly) and off you go. Softly, now! Wipe as thoroughly as you can and then polish with another, dry cloth.

Wipe the bulbs with a dry cloth and then replace them.

There we go—bright light once more, and a fixture in your room everyone can stare at and admire!

Here at Budget Maids, we provide cleaning services in Reston, Maid Service Rockville or cleaning services in Columbia and surrounds, and more. Why not give us a call today and let us clean your crystal chandeliers for you. They will be sparkling in no time.

Maid Service Olney – Bed Cleaning

A comedian on Twitter recently ran a poll asking how often people cleaned their duvets. Most people chose the ‘Wait, that’s a thingMaid Service Olney?!” reply…

Yes, it is a THING, people. We know it’s one of those cleaning jobs that seems a little pointless. You put a cover on it when you sleep under it, right? But Maid Service Olney wants to tell you your duvet should be cleaned regularly – every six months or so. If you live in a warm climate or your pets regularly join you on the bed (hmm!), then washing the duvet more frequently is advised.

There are rules for duvet washing. Don’t wash it with the cover on. You might need to use a laundromat, as domestic washing machines are limited in size and fitting in a king-size duvet won’t work. Gentle detergents work best, and you can use baking soda or borax to keep the duvet a nice white color.

What about the other things that make up your bed, such as the mattress and the pillows?

The pillows have the eww factor for sure, Maid Service Olney assures you. Doctors have discovered that almost a third of the pillow’s weight can be made up of dead skin, bugs, mites and their feces… Your average unwashed pillow can have as many as 16 species of fungi on it. Washing them every three months or so, checking the instructions so you use the right temperature setting.

Then, there’s your mattress. Again, like the duvet your mattress spends most of its working life covered. But keeping it clean is essential, as this will preserve its life. Mattresses usually contain traces of sweat, blood, urine, other bodily fluids as well as mold and dust mites.

Vacuuming or steaming the mattress every six months will help clear up dust mite feces that can cause allergic reactions, as well as get rid of the fungi and mold spores. Once you have vacuumed your mattress, deodorize it by sprinkling it with baking soda. Using a soft brush, work the soda into the mattress and then vacuum once more. You should then flip the mattress and do the other side.

If you want to make mattress cleaning as simple as possible, buy a machine-washable mattress topper. It won’t need cleaning as often as you change your sheets, which should be every week for best effect.

Here at Budget Maids we provide cleaning services in Reston, a Maid Service Olney or cleaning services in Columbia and surrounds, and more. Why not give us a call today and let us help you ensure your bedroom is as clean as your bed?

Cleaning Up After Pets – house cleaning Potomac

house cleaning Potomac

They’re cute – but messy too!

If you have pets, you might worry that a cleaning company such as house cleaning Potomac can cope.

Never fear! We have years of experience of cleaning homes, and we know people’s beloved pets are family members. We use environmentally-friendly cleaning products and methods to ensure your precious pooch or marvellous moggie is unharmed by anything we do. We’re used to cleaning up after pets too, so if your animal is home when we visit – that’s no problem either.

We have some advice to help you if you want to keep your home clean when you have pets:

  1. Groom your dog or cat regularly. This will minimise the shedding they do – so less dog or cat hair to vacuum up. It’s also an excellent way to bond with your pet, and it lets you keep an eye on any potential flea situations…
  2. If your animal does get fleas, remember you will need to treat the house as well as your pet. Wash any bedding he or she uses, as well as any cushions the animal uses. You might want to consider professional carpet cleaning such as the service we at house cleaning Potomac offer, as this is great for getting rid of critters.
  3. Carpet cleaning is also useful if your pet has had an accident… Bear in mind with cats that if they wee somewhere inside, they are likely to return to the same place as they’ll be able to smell the urine even when you can’t. A specialist cleaning product will be necessary to eliminate the odor completely.
  4. Keep a supply of sticky tape or special pet sponges in the home as this will help remove excess quantities of pet hair.
  5. If your pet has stomach trouble, this can be tricky to clear up because vomit is so acidic. If possible, clean it up as soon as you can. Use kitchen towels to pick up as much as you can, then treat the area with a professional carpet detergent. Rinse the area thoroughly with clean, hot water. Hopefully, this will bring the carpet back to a neutral pH.

Bear in mind that it can take up to two years to eradicate a home of pet hair… If you are moving on and selling your home, you might want to consider specialists services such as house cleaning Potomac to leave the place spick and span.
